Who we are

Accessibility to instruments, accessibility to information, and accessibility to instruction. These are our three pillars.

– Greg Doscher, founder of Sonaris Percussion

Sonaris Percussion began in 2019 with a singular vision: providing affordable, high-quality practice percussion instruments to students. Playing marimba in a large Texas high school marching band, I experienced first-hand the impact of not being able to practice at home. While my peers could simply take their trumpets home, we weren’t so lucky. This memory stayed with me, and when I took up woodworking after music school, I was finally able to do something about it, creating the 5S Padauk Marimba. Since then, I have expanded my direct-to-consumer model to include more mallet instruments, auxiliary pieces, and small pieces for repairs or remodels. Rooted in a commitment to excellence and affordability, we craft each instrument with precision and care right here in the USA. By focusing on cost without compromise, we aim to support and inspire the next generation of percussionists.

Our independent manufacturing process sets us apart, allowing us to maintain strict control over every aspect of production. This hands-on approach ensures that every Sonaris Percussion instrument meets our exacting standards and delivers exceptional performance. From the initial design to the final product, our dedicated team works tirelessly to bring you instruments that not only sound great but also stand the test of time. At Sonaris Percussion, we’re proud to contribute to the percussion community by providing innovative solutions that help musicians refine their craft and achieve their goals.

Knowledge is power.

– Marty the Marimbear

We believe that access to information is key to empowering our consumers. Since our inception, we’ve been dedicated to providing resources that go beyond just offering affordable practice instruments. We’re also committed to sharing comprehensive information on DIY instrument building, the acoustical science of percussion instruments, and the lumber industry that provides our building materials. Our educational resources are designed to be accessible, catering to both beginners and seasoned musicians who seek to deepen their understanding of instrument building or repair.
